01. Introduction

I first played the game Trivial Pursuit in my high school macroeconomics class. As the bookish nerd that I was, I rarely watched television and hardly bothered with current events, nor did I know very much about American pop culture from decades past. It didn't help that I was also gifted with wonderfully slow game-playing reflexes... so, needless to say, I completely sucked.

These days, I'm still far from being the brightest, trivia-savvy contender for TP Champion. But, if you were to dig out your beloved box of cards and ask me to play, I'd happily go along. In retrospect, Trivial Pursuit exposed me to a world of knowledge I had never considered useful -- quotes from Miss Piggy, a bit of Russian history, and some very confusing vegetable taxonomy... just to name a few. It nurtured a new type of curiosity for all things "trivial" and there hasn't been any turning back since.

Here, "trivial pursuits" reflects my adventures in all things trivial -- whether it is food, fashion, or crafts. Like my experiences playing Trivial Pursuit, I won't necessarily be an expert at the things I blog about, but I can certainly let my curiosity guide me along the way.

  1. I look forward to seeing what the pursuits you're engaged in now (especially if it includes tasty food!).
